THE LIQUID METAL STUDIO
A SMALL EXPERIMENT IN ATTRACTION
Four magnets. Nine peaks. One fleeting sculpture.
FIELD NOTES
Tune magnet strengths from 0 to 4 until all nine peak heights match the target. A magnet affects nearby peaks more strongly. Their influences add together, so one adjustment may help several peaks and disturb others.
The dashed mint outlines show the target sculpture. The table reads current / target; matching cells glow. Hover a magnet to illuminate its influence.
Use the + and − buttons, or press 1–4 to select a magnet and ↑ / ↓ to tune it. Z undoes, R resets, H gives a nudge. Every study is solvable; nudges suggest one move toward an exact solution.
Completion is saved only on this device. An unassisted sculpture earns a copper seal; using a nudge earns a mint seal. There is no timer.
ORIGINS
An original puzzle inspired by 2026 research on magnetic ferrofluid manipulation. Its discrete additive height rules are fictional, not a physical simulation.
Gameplay texture generated with a GPT image model and bundled locally. Original code: MIT; see license.txt.
Scientific GitHub background reference only: robert-leitl/ferrofluid (MIT, 35 observed stars, pushed May 18, 2025). No upstream code or assets reused.
Research: Silicone oil–based ferrofluid microrobots for versatile magnetic digital microfluidics (2026).
